Staff Haiku Project. Now Accepting Submissions. Want to hear from you.Contributed by Sara Jacobs on 07/24/20 Who’s up for connecting through creativity? (Crowd cheers) Staff Council’s Employee Engagement Committee invites all staff to participate in the Haiku Project. Haiku is a traditional Japanese form of poetry - a 17 syllable poem written in three lines*. The first line has 5 syllables. The second line has 7 syllables. The third line has 5 syllables. While haiku have traditionally been written with a focus on nature, it’s certainly not a requirement. *(The 5-7-5 style is one variation that is commonly used in English haiku) Here’s an (ancient) example: Face frozen on Zoom. Zoom is frozen on my face. Mother Nature laughs. Click link to complete form and submit poem at: MY HAIKU Deadline: September 25th, 2020.
