Due to the critical and ongoing importance of the college's respone to the publich health crisis, Ithaca College has created the position of director, Public Health Emergency Preparedness.

This position is responsible for directing the implementation of the campus response to COVID-19, monitoring the college’s compliance with the New York Forward plan, and advising the senior leadership team regarding the institutional response to the pandemic. The director will report to the vice president for student affairs and campus life and will work directly with the college’s medical director, and the director of public safety and emergency management, in addition to an inter-departmental team that will address wrap-around services and other operational needs.

To ensure continuity of the critical work of the Return to Campus Task Force and due to the emergent nature of this need, Christina Moylan, PhD, has been appointed to this role. Moylan was a key member of the Return to Campus Task Force steering committee and the Health and Safety Advisory Group. She served as co-chair of the task force’s Academic and Planning Subcommittee. 

Moylan joined Ithaca College in 2015 as an assistant professor in the Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education, specializing in public health policy, and as the coordinator of the HSHP Preprofessional Program. In 2018, she transitioned into the role of Associate Dean of the School of Health Sciences and Human Performance, to support academic affairs for their undergraduate programs. She was selected by Ithaca College as its 2020 participant in the HERS Leadership Institute for women leaders in higher education, which she completed this summer. 

Before her work at the college, Moylan served as a faculty member at the University of Central Florida where she taught public health-related coursework. She was employed for a decade in health policy positions for both state and federal organizations prior to joining higher education. Moylan is a native of Ithaca, New York, and is the current president of the Tompkins County Board of Health. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in educational psychology, and her master’s in health policy and management, with a focus in health policy, and doctorate in public health policy from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
