Student Land Stewardship Program - Ithaca College Natural LandsContributed by Jake Brenner on 08/12/20 The Student Land Stewardship Program of Ithaca College Natural Lands is a credit-bearing internship program that prepares students for careers in land management. Work in the Student Land Stewardship Program falls into two general types: research and land management. Research involves an ongoing project focused on carbon dynamics in the forests of Ithaca College Natural Lands. Field work includes setting up sample plots, identifying trees, and collecting data on biomass. Desk work (which can be done remotely) involves analysis of data collected during past field seasons. Land management involves routine maintenance, educational programming, and other tasks that keep ICNL a fun, safe, educational environment year-round for all our community members. No previous experience, expertise, or training is required. All students are welcome, but space is limited. Please write to ICNL Faculty Manager Jake Brenner at jbrenner@ithaca.edu to discuss details and registration. |
