What does it mean to be a First-Generation college student?

Ithaca College defines First-generation college students as students (and their siblings) who will be the first in their family to graduate from a four-year college or university.

The First Look Program is a six week program designed for incoming first-generation college students to help with the transition to college and to welcome them to the first-gen community at IC.

Students who participate will become familiar with IC’s campus, campus partners, and build on their talents & skills to be successful for their first year of college. 

There will be workshops will range from peer panels, academic engagement, student involvement, wellness and more and on academic skills to prepare for college-levels courses.

Interested in participating?
The priority deadline for application submissions is Friday September 4th, 2020.
Students will be notified of their status via email on upon application submission.

The program will start September 9th at 7pm and will run twice a week until October 16th, 2020.
