To recognize the evolving historical meaning of the U.S. Constitution, the Constitution Day organizing committee is asking members of the campus community to watch the World Premier of internationally recognized filmmaker Idrissou Mora-Kpai's pathbreaking documentary film, America Street, and attend the panel discussion on the film. America Street follows Joe, the owner of a small corner store at the heart of a disappearing Black community in Charleston, South Carolina, resisting the mounting forces of gentrification and racial violence, including the police killing of Walter Scott. The film can be accessed from the Cinemapolis website for a nominal ticket fee beginning Friday, September 18th. https://cinemapolis.org/film/america-street-2/ An online panel to discuss the film will be held on Wednesday, September 25th at 4 PM. The panel will be moderated by Patricia Zimmermann, who is the co-director of FLEFF. Comprising the panel will be professors Idrissou Mora-Kpai (Ithaca College), R.A. Judy (University of Pittsburgh), Reece Auguiste (University of Colorado, Boulder), and Janet Walker (University of California, Santa Barbara); and Brett Bossard (Executive Director, Cinemapolis). Register in advance for this webinar: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_fny_nQejSxaegvlm_8GaHA After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar.
