dawn pierce is this week’s guest on Fine Artists at Five.Contributed by Gordon Rowland on 09/16/20 The Center for Faculty Excellence is pleased to host Ithaca College Community Artists each Friday at 5pm. In a mere 15-20 minutes, learn what our community brings to the Arts, and the invariable ways Art invigorates our lives. This week’s guest is dawn pierce. Mezzo-soprano dawn pierce is praised as both an exceptional performer and an empowering teacher. Reviewers laud her as “vocally impressive and dramatically convincing,” while students describe her teaching as “creative,” “energetic,” and “inspiring.” Ms. Pierce is experienced in a wide variety of styles. Examples of her roles in operas include Olga in Eugene Onegin with Opera Carolina, Marthe in Faust with Lyric Opera Baltimore, Lola in Cavalleria Rusticana with Opera Tampa, Madelon and Bersi in Andrea Chenier with Nashville Opera, and the title role ofCarmen at the Southern Illinois Music Festival. She is equally comfortable in musical theatre, where she portrayed Franca (The Light in the Piazza), The Grand Duchess (The Student Prince), and Anita (West Side Story). On the concert stage, she has earned rave reviews for her interpretation of the alto solos in Verdi's Requiem and Handel's Messiah.
