Whereas in the past we have held a selective interview process, this year we welcome you to join regardless of experience through a general placement application so that we can make a home for your creativity, enthusiasm, and ideas. Besides publishing our yearly literary magazine, we will be featuring art and artists of all stripes throughout the fall semester with community contests, our Art Causes a Ripple interview campaign, and on our blog.

  • New members will:

    • work with others to become more thoughtful, compassionate readers and editors

    • seek out and engage with art from the IC community and encourage others to share their creative voices with the organization

    • have opportunities create, edit, interview, design, market, and/or lead

  • In the fall:

    • join returning staff to develop various projects (Art Causes a Ripple, our blog, or contests)

  • In the spring:

    • join a spring magazine team (Art & Photo, Fiction, Nonfiction, Copyediting, or Poetry)

    • review submissions for publication under the guidance of a Senior Genre Editor

    • engage in meaningful dialogues with content creators

Please complete the general application found here by Monday, September 21 at 9:00pm EDT and send it to stillwatermagazine@gmail.com.

If you have any questions about the application process, or if you feel this application overlooks your skillset in any way but would still like to be involved, feel free to reach out at the address above. You will have a home with us!

We also invite you to our interest meeting Thursday, September 17 at 6:00 PM EDT, or at the Student Org fair on Wednesday, September 16 between 7:00 and 9:00 PM EDT.
