Carla Stetson is this week’s guest on Fine Artists at Five.Contributed by Gordon Rowland on 10/01/20 The Center for Faculty Excellence is pleased to host Ithaca College Community Artists each Friday at 5pm. In a mere 15-20 minutes, learn what our community brings to the Arts, and the invariable ways Art invigorates our lives. This week’s guest is Carla Stetson. Carla Stetson creates artwork using a wide variety of media and methods, ranging in scale from large installations to densely-detailed mixed media constructions that reflect upon current environmental challenges. Her artwork has been included in: Open Studio Exhibitions, DRAW International, Caylus, France; Crossing Boundaries, Windsor Whip Works Gallery, New York; Wide Open, and Brooklyn Waterfront Artist Coalition, Brooklyn, New York. Her recent solo exhibitions include Natural Histories, Anderson Center for the Arts, Red Wing, Minnesota; and Aerial Reconnaissance, Handwerker Gallery, Ithaca College. January 2014. Here in the Department of Art, her teaching interests include Multicultural and postmodern curriculum trends in Art Education, Contemporary Drawing, Sustainability themes reflected in contemporary art practices, and Social Justice in Public Art.
