Scott has graciously provided (limited) access to the Ithaca College Community to view his film in conjunction with this conversation: Magenin Films: Danica DRIVEN https://vimeo.com/465087117 Password:Ithaca "As the days tick toward Danica Patrick's last race before retirement from motor sports, we travel along her side for an intimate look at the thoughts, legacy and immediate next chapters in the life of the most successful woman open-wheel race-car driver of all time, a pop-culture figure who utilized incredible skill and marketing savvy to transcend a male-barricaded sport." Scott McDermott grew up in Switzerland, backpacked through the American West and trekked the Himalayas before spending the last 20 years as a commercial photographer in NYC, initially shooting sports. Scott's work eventually shifted toward the athletes themselves and portraiture. This led to photographing many of the best creative minds in Hollywood, the music industry and the worlds of business and government. Along with his advertising and editorial work, Scott has created several personal projects including his “Scar Stories” portrait series, the highly acclaimed "Mandela Day” project capturing the hands and faces of many of those who support Nelson Mandela's message and a series of portraits accompanying the film "Pop Culture" about the fatherhood experience. In the last few years Scott has also made the shift to the moving image as a director on a variety of projects from commercial spots to short films and viral videos through his production company Magenin Films. He also just directed a feature documentary "Danica: DRIVEN" that follows racing driver Danica Patrick in the lead up to her final race before retirement. The film was selected into ten film festivals, and has won awards for "Best Biographical Film", "Best Sports Film" and "Best Cinematography". Scott is an International Cinematographers Guild Local 600 member as a still photographer. www.ScottMcDermott.com www.MageninFilms.com Park Professional Development offers a series of virtual forums to make new connections, spark insights and build momentum in our shared interest in communications.
