Take advantage of the brief winter term, and earn 2 FREE credits in music education. This new elective called Creating Secondary Level Curriculum and Assessment Practices in Music Education for the edTPA and Successful Teaching is designed to guide you through understanding the process of designing an edTPA Learning Segment and creating its 3 lesson plans, becoming knowledgeable of the instructing needs for them, and assessing the results of their learnings. You’ll find its immediate use to be extremely helpful for successfully navigating the edTPA as well as give you confidence to discuss this crucial aspect of teaching in job interviews! You’ll progress through each of the 15 edTPA rubrics to learn what the evaluators are looking for and create prototypes of each step. I’m encouraging group work so you’ll be able to share ideas and participate at all stages during the course with others who share your interests. A final project will allow you to pull all of the information together into a cohesive Learning Segment of your interest that could be utilized in your edTPA! We will need at least 5 students to run this course, so encourage your friends/peers to register for Free. The class is open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors.
