BRINGING IN THE BYSTANDER

Contributed by Omar Stoute on 10/22/20

In support and in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month (DVAM), the Sexual Violence Prevention Committee (SVPC) and the Advocacy Center of Tompkins County are offering an online training for Bystander Intervention.

Join us and learn skills for overcoming barriers when it comes to intervening around sexual and relationship violence, and to tap into the power that you already hold to stand up and stay something!

SLI Credit is available through IC Engage

This months topics will include healthy dating, identifying signs of violence and bystander intervention techniques.

You may also use purple backgrounds during your video calls as a show of solidarity for victims and those suffering with domestic violence throughout the month of October. SVPC has curated some of our favorite backgrounds and made them available here: Domestic Violence Awareness Month Backgrounds.

"Individuals with disabilities requiring accommodations should contact Omar Stoute, SVPC co-chair, at ostoute1@ithaca.edu or Samantha Elebiary, SVPC co-chair, at selebiary@ithaca.edu. We ask that requests for accommodations be made as soon as possible."
