Mike Ariel ‘09, Assistant Director of Athletics, has accepted a position at Cayuga Medical Center as a Senior Accounting and Financial Analyst.  Mike is looking forward to a new opportunity which will allow him to develop the skills and knowledge he learned while earning his MBA at IC’s School of Business.  Mike’s last day at IC is Friday, October 30.

Mike joined the athletic department on a full-time basis in the summer of 2011. He has taken on progressive responsibilities throughout his tenure in the Ithaca College Department of Athletics. His main duties include scheduling and operations planning and management of the Athletics & Events Center including the Aquatics Pavilion and seasonal outdoor pool.

Mike Ariel is a 2009 graduate of Ithaca College with a bachelor's degree in exercise science and completed in MBA in 2018. He was a four-year member of the Ithaca men's swimming & diving team and was a state qualifier in freestyle events and a team captain. He was a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Following his graduation he served as an assistant coach with the men's swimming team.

“Mike has been integral to the operation and management of the Athletics and Event Center, in general and the Kelsey Partridge Bird Natatorium, since it opened in 2011,” said Director of Intercollegiate Athletics, Susan Bassett ’79. “Mike has taken on numerous roles and responsibilities within the Department of Athletics and Recreational Sports during his time on our staff.  I appreciate his tireless efforts particularly in hosting our many, many large scale swimming and diving championships. Please join me in congratulating Mike on his new opportunity and in thanking him for his work on behalf of Ithaca College.”
