The School of Health Sciences and Human Performance is pleased to offer an opportunity to hear from Ithaca College faculty, staff, and alumni who will share their insights and experiences on the pandemic. Conversations on COVID is a one-hour event that features a 30-minute interview with our featured guest followed by Q & A with our audience. The COVID pandemic exposes in full view enormous health disparities and inequalities during a time of global protests for racial justice. It has also provoked questions about the preparedness of our public health and medical care systems Raj Subramaniam is a professor and Coordinator of the Teacher Education Program in the Department of Health Promotion and Physical Education. Dr. Subramaniam’s expertise is in the area of elementary physical education pedagogy. His research interests are in the areas of motivation, attitude, and interest in physical education and physical activity in the school setting. Dr. Subramaniam has published his research in top-tier journals in the field and has presented at national and international conferences. For his dedication to teaching, scholarship and service Dr. Subramaniam was awarded the Faculty Excellence Award, and the HSHP Dean’s Award at Ithaca College in 2015. He also is a Fellow in the Research Consortium of the American Association of Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance. They can study the current disruptions and begin to rethink how to challenge the health status quo in order to produce more equality in the health system and to reduce systematic racism in health institutions and practices.
