Join us for a talk back on Wayne Wang’s COMING HOME AGAIN Thursday November 12 at 6 p.m.

Dr. Walter Byongsok Chon, Assistant Professor of Dramaturgy and Theatre Studies in the Theatre Arts Department at Ithaca College and Dr. Sueyoung Park-Primiano, Assistant Professor of English and Film Studies at Kennesaw State University, will facilitate an open discussion forum of this touching new film.

Dr. Walter Byongsok Chon is an Assistant Professor of Dramaturgy and Theatre Studies at Ithaca College. He served as dramaturg at the Yale Rep, Yale School of Drama, O’Neill Center, Great Plains Theater Conference, Hangar Theatre, and New York Musical Festival. His writings are published in Theater, Praxis, Asymptote, The Mercurian, The Routledge Companion to Dramaturgy, and the online magazine The Theatre Times, for which he serves as a co-managing editor for South Korea. His produced theatrical translations include Inching Towards Yeolha (Korean to English) and Charles Mee’s True Love (English to Korean).

Dr. Sueyoung Park-Primiano is Assistant Professor of English and Film Studies in the Department of English at Kennesaw State University. Her research has been published in New Review of Film and Television and Studies in the Humanities, and she is a contributing author to Cinema's Military Industrial Complex, American Militarism on the Small Screen, and Popular Culture in Asia. Her scholarly work focuses on the dialogic relationship between Hollywood and East Asian cinemas in the post-Second World War era. She is a former Postdoctoral Teaching Fellow in Screen Studies at Ithaca College.

Based on a personal essay by Chang-rae Lee that was published in The New Yorker, Coming Home Again is an intimate family drama about a mother, a son, and the burden of family expectations.

Chang-rae, a first generation Korean-American, has returned to his family home in San Francisco to care for his ailing mother. Wanting nothing more than to fulfill his role as the supportive son, Chang-rae must come to terms with his own conflicted emotions towards his mother.
