Chrystyna Dail, Associate Professor of Theatre History in the Department of Theatre Arts, published an article in the 2020 edition of Theatre History Studies (Volume 39). The article, "When for "Witches" We Read "Women": Advocacy and Ageism in Nineteenth-Century Salem Witchcraft Plays" addresses four plays written between 1846 and 1893 using the Essex County witchcraft crisis as their backdrop. The article includes analysis of how these witchcraft plays grappled with the early women's rights movement as well as exploring the social problem of ageism practiced against women.
