Congratulations to Grace Collins '22 and Remi Yuter '21, Washington Media Scholarship Awardees. Both students are Integrated Marketing Communications (IMC) majors. 'It was an incredibly competitive cycle—we received 2x the number of applications than at the same time last year… same as this summer. The need among students and families is profound. We had to make very hard decisions.", stated Andrea Koslow, Vice President & Executive Director of the Washington Media Scholars Foundation. The Washington Media Scholars Foundation recognizes enthusiastic and qualified students by awarding several competitive scholarships each academic year to students whose academic interests are at the intersection of advertising and public policy. This includes (but is not limited to) Advertising, Marketing, Communications, Business, Political Science, Strategic Media and other majors. “Through my IMC major and CMD minor, I've been lucky to be able to explore a lot of different areas within the strategic communications field. I currently work in two different roles for Ithaca's Office of College Relations & Communications, where I get to write news stories and contribute to marketing materials and messages that go to prospective students. As a project manager for IC Students Consulting for Non-Profit Organizations, I've been able to get a peek into the world of non-profit management, and I really love the idea of a career where I can combine my skills with my passions for different social causes. After IC, I hope to go to graduate school and eventually work in public relations or internal communications for a non-profit!” - Collins “In my time at Ithaca College, I have participated in many organizations and worked in differing areas, both on campus and off. My classroom experience designing brand campaigns, and my real-world experience — working in social media for a well-known fashion brand management company and doing multi-level marketing for a local politician’s successful re-election campaign — provided me broad media and industry knowledge, which greatly shaped my understanding of the world and the role I aim to play in it. I am an IMC major with a minor in Legal Studies, and while I am not yet sure exactly how I intend to incorporate law into my future career, I am leaning strongly toward pursuing a career in public relations, ideally in the entertainment industry. I have served on the executive board for Ithaca College’s Bureau of Concerts for the past two years, and that has emphasized my interest in music and live performances of all kinds. Ideally, my dream career would involve using my IMC background to become a publicist for artists and performers.” - Yuter
