Dear IC Community: In a time that has challenged us deeply, pulling at our optimism and separating us from each other, I am so proud to announce that the Ithaca College School of Music community has come together to pay tribute to all who have been impacted by the COVID pandemic: to those who have lost their lives and to their loved ones, as well as to the health care professionals and other essential, frontline workers who continue to take personal risks to serve others in their communities. Please join us at 7:00 p.m. ET on Tuesday, December 15, for the premiere of“Amazing Grace,” as performed by nearly 300 musicians who joined with one another virtually from across the country to share their music and their hearts with us all. You can tune in to view this profoundly moving performance on our YouTube Channel at: https://youtu.be/_weuC6FLyJ8. The power of music to comfort, to heal, and to help us connect with one another is undeniable. In that spirit, School of Music students, faculty, staff, and alumni have put their collective vocal, instrumental, and creative talents toward producing a singular experience—a virtual performance of the hymn “Amazing Grace,” arranged by Oliver Scott ’19 and edited together by Matt Brockman ’18. I hope you will take the opportunity to view this ambitious and meaningful ensemble presentation—either during its Tuesday night premiere or at a later date—which our community has created to demonstrate our deepest compassion toward the victims of the pandemic and their loved ones, our great appreciation for those who continue to put others before self, and inspire hope in us all. With warm regards, Keith Kaiser
