Join energy educators from Cornell Cooperative Extension and HeatSmart Tompkins for this three-part series created specifically for IC and CU faculty and staff. Learn about steps you can take to save money and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from your home! This series will provide information for both renters and homeowners and you’re welcome to attend any or all sessions. Please follow the hyperlinks for up-to-date Zoom and calendar information.

Session 1: Weatherize!

Thursday, January 14th, 1-2 PM

Paying too much for your utility bills? Want to increase the comfort of your home? Looking to contribute toward a future free of fossil fuels? Through slides and interactive discussion, learn about:

  • Simple, low-cost DIY projects to reduce your heating and electricity bills and be more comfortable in your home
  • How to get a free, no-obligation home energy assessment to see how you can save even more money
  • Incentive programs to cover the cost of home energy upgrades available for renters as well as homeowners of all income levels

Session 2: Renewable Heat

Spending too much on your current heating bill? Want to cut down on your fossil fuel consumption? We’ll cover alternative cold climate heating solutions, including air- and ground-source heat pumps, heat pump water heaters, and wood and pellet stoves. Learn about ways to subsidize your switch to renewable heat!
