Dear Campus Community, On Tuesday, January 19, Ithaca College will join other colleges and universities, businesses, places of worship, public offices, and communities in observing the National COVID-19 Memorial. This nationwide event is being held as part of the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris, and it will include the first-ever lighting around the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool to memorialize American lives lost. The lights on Dillingham Center facing the fountains will be adjusted to amber at dusk on Tuesday through dawn on Wednesday in this tribute to remember and honor the lives lost to COVID in the United States. Today, that number rests at nearly 390,000 family members, loved ones, neighbors, and friends. As we welcome our students back to campus for this spring semester, we do so at a time when COVID is very much still a part of our collective experience. In remembering the people that we’ve lost, I ask that we also remember our responsibility to take care of one another and help sustain a learning community here on South Hill that is resilient and unified. In solidarity, Shirley M. Collado
