Kathleen Mulligan, Professor of Voice and Speech in the Theatre Arts Department, presented a talk "Creating Theatre From Family Stories" for the Theatre Talk series sponsored by Lokadharmi Theatre in Kerala, India.

Mulligan shared experiences working with Ithaca College theatre students on original monologues based on family history, and how that assignment led to her 2015 sabbatical project "Voices of Partition"--an original theatre piece created out of interviews with survivors of the Partition of India and Pakistan in 1947. Theatre- makers from across India and the middle east were in attendance. Mulligan and her husband David Studwell were introduced to Lokadharmi and its artistic director Chandra Dasan during her Fulbright to India in 2010. During subsequent visits to India, Mulligan has taught workshops at the theatre, and she hosted Mr. Dasan during his Fulbright to the U.S. in 2015.
