Please join us in congratulating Matt Sullivan on his new $196,000 grant from the National Science Foundation!

The research team from the undergraduate-only physics departments at SUNY Brockport and Ithaca College, along with collaborators from the U. S. Naval Research Laboratory, are studying thin films of niobium oxide for use in neuromorphic circuits.  The project’s goal is to develop niobium oxide based electronic components that can seamlessly integrate with the current state-of-the-art silicon-based electronics.
Undergraduate students, including those from underrepresented groups, are integral members of the research team and participate in all aspects of the research project during the summer and academic year, and will present their work at regional and national conferences.  The PIs will also outreach and present at local schools multiple times per year.

Congratulations Matt, this is a wonderful accomplishment!

Congratulations, Matt. This is a really impressive achievement
and one that our students will benefit from. Kudos on finding
the time and energy during this pandemic to make this happen.
