VoiceThread has improved their Assignment feature that allows an instructor to grade student work and pass a grade to the learning management system (Sakai or Canvas). On June 30, 2021 all VoiceThread users will use the new Assignments feature. VoiceThread will be hosting four, free, one-hour workshops to support faculty at all levels of experience with the tool including a dedicated workshop on the new Assignments feature. Read on to learn more about the Assignments feature and upcoming workshops. 

New Assignments Feature in VoiceThread: 

On March 22, 2021, IT will update our VoiceThread account to enable these new features, allowing IC faculty members to begin exploring and testing out the new Assignment feature with spring courses.  

Any current or past user of VoiceThread Assignments will be unaffected without further action before June 30. Faculty can enable the new feature on any VoiceThread assignment between now and June 30 and it will not break any existing functionality. However, to take advantage of all the enhancements, we encourage faculty to enable the new assignments feature when creating the assignment.

VoiceThread Basics 1: Upload, Comment, and Share 

• March 16 at 1:00 ET 
• Participants will learn how to upload media, comment and annotate on that media, and share it with others. This will be a slow paced, step-by-step, hands-on workshop.

VoiceThread Basics 2: Groups and Secure Sharing 

• March 23 at 1:00 ET 
• We will begin to explore the features available to VoiceThreaders with a full license. Participants will learn how to create groups and subgroups, set sharing permissions within those groups, and privately share VoiceThreads with individuals.

VoiceThread Basics 3: Moderating comments, private and threaded replies, and copying

• In our third workshop in the series, participants will learn how to give private feedback, use threaded commenting, copy VoiceThreads for use with multiple groups, and use comment moderation to formatively assess student work.
