The Office of New Student & Transition Programs and the Orientation Advisory Committee (OAC) are excited to share several important updates with the campus community regarding the 2021 Orientation Programs.

 Dates:

  • Family & Supporter Orientation: Early August 2021 | Presented Virtually
  • First-Year Orientation: Thursday, August 19th - Saturday, August 21st
  • Transfer Orientation: Friday, August 20th

Orientation will also include optional events on Sunday, August 22nd.

While Move-in dates are still being finalized, we are accounting for at least one buffer day (August 18th) depending on our COVID-19 testing model. Move-in will occur in the week before classes start, First-Year students will be prioritized to arrive prior to orientation.

Important Highlights:

  • New students will continue to use their IC Connect Portal (Slate), to access their own personalized new student checklist that will be completed before their arrival in the fall.
  • We also plan to have a live-chat feature again, however, we are still determining which program works best with our timeline and ability to communicate efficiently.
  • Considering the reduction of days in the in-person program and the unknown around health and safety guidelines, we intend on replicating some information sharing and resources presentations made available to students asynchronously throughout the summer. The Orientation Leadership Team will be working directly with campus partners to ensure that we can effectively share the resources your office provides.

Again, we would like to take one final opportunity to share our deepest gratitude to all of the folks who are supporting our work because this program wouldn’t be possible without you.
