Samantha Brandal, Meredith Burke, Stevie Malenowski, and Alexander Paredes-Ruíz presented research at the Western/Central New York Regional Meeting of Phi Alpha Theta, the national honors society, on April 24th. The conference occurred remotely via Zoom and was hosted by SUNY Geneseo.  Jonathan Ablard, faculty sponsor of the Ithaca College Phil Alpha Theta chapter, served as a moderator.  

Alexander Paredes-Ruíz, “’¿Cual Es Tu Sueño Americano?:’ The Shifting Latinx Perception of Opportunity in Miami Since 1980” resulted from an honors thesis written under the direction of Dr. Michael Trotti, History and Gustavo Licón, CSCRE.

Samantha Brandal, “Short Skirts and Revolvers: Cumann na mBan and Irish Republican Feminism” resulted from an honors thesis written under the direction of Dr. Karin Breuer, History.

Stevie Malenowski, “Adirondack Logging in the Era of the Machine: A Radical Transformation in Technology and Ecology” and Meredith Burke, “The Rise of Domestic Science: Electrification’s Culture of Efficiency and Perfectionism in the Early Twentieth-Century American Household” wrote their papers in Dr. Michael Smith’s Senior Seminar “Energy and U.S. History.”
