On Friday, April 30th, at 7 p.m., the On the Verge reading series, in collaboration with the New Voices Literary Festival, will present a Zoom-based performance of a new play by visiting author Gina Femia. The Virtuous Fall of the Girls from Our Lady of Sorrows is about a group of girls at a Catholic high school who decide to stage their own sequel to Shakespeare's Measure for Measure, entitled M4M2, eliciting consternation from their teachers. Virtuous Fall is a moving, funny and poignant coming-of-age tale about young people finding the courage to embrace their evolving selves.

The performance will be immediately followed by a conversation with the playwright, Gina Femia, who will be present for the show.

The cast includes students from the department of Theatre Arts (Lilli Herrick, Ronee Goldman, Denise Kolodja, Carolyn Best, Maliha Sayed, Emily Mesa and Elie McCoy) and faculty member Kathleen Mulligan (Theatre Arts). The performance is directed by Claire Gleitman (faculty, English), assistant directed by Sophia Egner (student, Theatre Arts) and stage managed by Christina Johns (student, Theatre Arts).
