Please join us in congratulating John Vongas as the recipient for the 2021 Mike LaTour Research Excellence Award. 

All the proposals were excellent, but the review committee was unanimous on selecting John's proposal as the winner. While all the proposals are promising, John's project “Women's Empathy Advantage: An Achilles’ Heel in Leadership Appointments" was selected because of the detailed research plan and potential for presentation at the Gender and Diversity in Organizations Division at the Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management and eventual publication in an appropriate journal. 

On behalf of the School of Business and all our faculty, we would also like to thank Kathy LaTour for her service on the review committee for this award that she established in Mike’s memory. The quality of proposals is strong evidence that Mike’s vision for enhancing the reputation of the Ithaca College School of Business through high quality scholarship is being realized. This award is a great way to remember Mike and we appreciate Kathy’s continued participation in the review process.
