IC alumnus Aaron Inver (’06) will be joining us Monday Oct. 27 at 7 p.m. to discuss his experiences after graduating Ithaca, life as a broadcast producer and the “dos and don’ts” of a strong news package.   

Aaron currently works as a Producer at WTXF-TV; the Fox owned and operated station in Philadelphia. In September, Aaron launched a new show called “#Fox29Weekend,” a completely interactive local newscast, which was trending nationally on Twitter the morning of its debut.

The deadline for applications for 2015 Finger Lakes Environmental Film Festival internship and blogging positions has been EXTENDED until MONDAY NOVEMBER 10 at 5 p.m.

Interested students can find the applications HERE.

Internships are a one credit course that spans three weeks. Blogging internships are a semester-long three credit seminar. The seminar can also count as an honors seminar for those eligible students.

Applications must be typed, and hand delivered to Rosalie Fitzgerald,Special Assistant to the Assistant Provost in Job 202.

Ithaca College has announced ticketing procedures for the 2014 Cortaca Jug football game, which will be held Nov. 15 at noon at the Cortland Stadium Complex. The annual game between Ithaca and Cortland draws enthusiastic capacity crowds, so fans are encouraged to get their tickets as early as possible for the event. A limited number of tickets are available and no tickets will be sold at the stadium on the day of the game. Every spectator must have a ticket in order to enter the stadium.

Ithaca College Alumni, Kelsey Greene ('12), presented on behalf of Project Look Sharp at the NAAEE conference in Ottawa, Ontario, on Thursday, October 9 from 2:15pm to 3:45 in the Ottawa Convention Centre. In her interactive workshop she used Project Look Sharp’s sustainability curriculum kits to model how educators in formal and informal learning sectors can teach about relevant sustainability issues through deconstruction and production of diverse media texts.

SGA Senator Josh Kelly has formed an SGA committee to focus on environmental affairs and policy on campus. If you are interested in studying and influencing environmental and ecological policy at IC, please email Senator Kelly at jkelly6@ithaca.edu to inform him that you are interested in joining the committee. Is giving a speech not your bread and butter? Come join the Ithaca College chapter of Toastmasters.  At Toastmasters, we will help you learn the skills that can help you give a speech like a piece of cake (or Toast). 

We have a new meeting time, every other Wednesday and the first Monday of every month.  Our first Monday meeting is November 3 at 6 PM in the DeMott Conference Room. We invite faculty, staff, and students to join us!

This lecture will consider these clashing human desires from the standpoint of evolutionary theory, and explore whether future technology can transform this clash, perhaps by transforming the very structure of human interaction.
