Course fulfills General Education requirements 1: Self & Society and GE h: Historical Perspective, Humanities, Liberal Arts, and Diversity Designation. COURSE DESCRIPTION: Explores how representations of racial and ethnic identities in U.S. film, television, and music influence the construction of political, racial, and gender identities nationally. Investigates how cultural representations of race, ethnicity, and gender are central to the development of U.S. mass culture and consumerism, nationalism, citizenship, and social movements. Particular attention is given to the role of black and Latino/a culture and music in developing strategies of resistance to oppression. Prerequisites: Sophomore standing. 3 credits. However, sometimes you may not want to share the details of an event with others. You can restrict the visibility of an event's details by making it "private." To do so when creating a new appointment or meeting, click the "private" button in the ribbon at the top of your new appointment/meeting window. If the event already exists on your calendar, simply double-click the event to open it and click the "private" button in the ribbon at the top of your appointment/meeting window. Now, those with access to view your calendar will simply see your event listed as "private" and will be unable to view any details, such as subject or location. Read more . . . (106 words)
