PCHSA Yogurtland Fundraiser!

Invite all of your friends and head down to Yogurtland to support IC's Public and Community Health Student Association in raising money for mother's in El Salvador! The organization is working on raising funds to provide 100 mothers with "Mommy Kits" that include maternal supplies for safer deliveries and better post-labor health. “A Night with Frank Kruppa” is a chance to meet and chat with the Public Health Director of Tompkin’s County Health Department. This workshop will discuss key components and best practices for building quality community partnerships in service-learning. The workshop facilitators will describe activities such as community partner selection, site review, on-site planning and programming, MOU development and how to negotiating roles, responsibilities and resources to ensure sustainability. The workshop facilitators will offer examples of service-learning partnerships in Ithaca, NYC, and Nicaragua and share a number of resources including a newly created community-campus standards document.

Marie Sanford, Clinical Associate Professor in the Dept. of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, was selected as a faculty presenter at the 48th Annual Meeting and Conference of the Society for Social Work Leadership on Health Care in Philadelphia (October 2-5, 2013).  Her seminar entitled “Interviewing Practices and the Interpretation of Children’s Statements” A Linguistic Perspective,”  offered identifiable linguistic indicators used in evaluating statements obtained from investigative interviews of children.

Fun Without Drinking (referred to as "forward") is a group for Ithaca College students who are looking to have Fun Without Drinking.  The goal of this group is to allow individuals to meet others who share similar beliefs to establish friendships and alternative activities. We have weekly meetings and host activities on the weekends.
