January is Data Privacy Month

Data Privacy Month is an annual effort to empower people to protect their privacy and control their digital footprint, as well as escalate the protection of privacy and data as everyone's priority. Spend the month helping to ensure your campus community is respecting privacy, safeguarding data, and enabling trust. This year’s Data Privacy Month Planning Task Force has selected weekly themes for the higher education community to focus on. Several free webinars will also be offered throughout the month of January.

On Saturday, January 26, more than 100 students will participate in a variety of service projects in the Ithaca area! We encourage YOU to be one of those volunteers! The Ithaca College theme for this day will be “Making a Career of Humanity.”

Ithaca College will be hosting Elect Her – Campus Women Win. The American Association of University Women as well as an organization called Running Start sponsors this program to encourage young women to run for student government on their campuses. This program is a 4.5 hour workshop and hopes to encourage leadership development but also to motivate young women to enter careers in politics in the future. Even though this program is centered on women running for office, it is open to both young men and women. Specifically, we are looking for enthusiastic individuals who are looking to develop their leadership further on campus.

The 16th Annual James J. Whalen Symposium will be held on Thursday, April 4, 2013 in the Campus Center, Emerson Suites (Emerson A, B, C, and lounge), North Foyer, Buttermilk Falls Room, Ithaca Falls Room, Taughnannock Falls Room, and Clark and Klingenstein Lounges. We look forward to an exciting day of student presentations on research completed in collaboration with faculty.
