Education, good judgment, and a healthy dose of skepticism are the best defenses against becoming a victim. Remember, if it looks too good to be true, it probably is!

VIC is back on the air

After the short fall break hiatus, VIC Radio is back on the air Monday, October 18 at 6am!  WICB’s sister station at Ithaca College, VIC streams online at Vicradio.org through Live 365.  During the week, we play a combination of indie pop and rock as well as alternative classics.  Weekends however, specialty shows take over with a unique blend of music.  Enjoy a variety of specialized music shows you can’t hear anywhere else.  Some examples include:

Electro Hip Hop: Saturday 3-6 pm
A potent mix electronic and hip-hop with DJs Foxie Oxie and Slammin Stevey.

Matty B’s Broadway: Sunday 2-4 pm. 
Sing along to all your favorite show tunes with DJ Matty B.

NCUR 2011 will bring more than 2,000 students and faculty to the IC campus and this three-day conference will feature student seminars, performances, and poster presentations, as well as plenary speakers and special events.  We will need hundreds of faculty and staff volunteers to serve as moderators for oral presentation sessions.

REMINDER:  Anyone interested in conducting 302 research in the biology department this Spring MUST submit your registration form by: 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 29.

Project descriptions and registration forms are available here or in the Department of Biology main office in CNS 161.

  • Note:  Maki Inada does have room in her lab.

This is also a perfect time for underclassmen to discuss 200-level research with faculty.

Bill Sheasgreen, director of Ithaca College's London Center, will be on campus October 21-24. He will be accompanied by Claire Mokrauer-Madden, current Program Assistant at the Center and Fall 2002 London Center alumna.  The Office of International Programs will host a "coffee talk" reception to welcome them on Friday, October 22, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. in ground floor lounge of the Center for Health Sciences. Faculty, staff, and students are welcome to attend.

Political consultant James Carville will serve as this year's Park Distinguished Visitor on Monday, November 1. Carville will give a public lecture at 7:30 p.m. in Emerson Suites followed by a book signing. The Campus Bookstore will have books available for sale at the event.

A frequent contributor to CNN, Carville is also a best-selling author, producer, and talk show host. Carville, known as "The Ragin' Cajun," was very outspoken about the recent oil spill in the Gulf.
