“Keen and Suite” is the theme of a free concert by the West Point Saxophone Quartet to be held at 8:15 pm on Monday, October 26 in the Hockett Family Recital Hall.  The concert will include “Suite” by Erik Alan Norman, “Keen” by Roshanne Etezady, and music of Escaich, and Gotkovsky.

Soprano saxophonist Steven Mauk, guitarist Pablo Cohen, and bassist Nicholas Walker—known collectively as “Tango de Cámera” -- will present a free concert on Sunday, October 25 at 4 p.m. in the Hockett Family Recital Hall at Ithaca College.  The afternoon will feature premieres by Dana Wilson and Sally Lamb, as well as selections by Nicholas Walker, Guillaume Connesson, Jacob Ter Veldhuis, and Bill Whelan.

The Office of International Programs will host a "coffee talk" reception to welcome him on Friday, October 23, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Taughannock Falls Meeting Room, 3rd floor of the Campus Center. On Friday, October 23, join hundreds of other members of the IC community in a "ghost walk" to observe the International Day of Climate Action. We need 350 students, faculty and staff to dress up in ghost costumes with the bottom dyed blue to symbolize the potentially fatal problem of climate change and the rising sea levels it causes. The "ghost walkers" will assemble to take a picture in the shape of "350," then conduct a parade around campus.

Assistant Professor of Psychology Jeffrey Holmes presented at the Best Practices in the Teaching of Psychology Conference in Atlanta, Georgia on October 17.  His presentation was entitled Using Controversial Issues to Teach Critical and Scientific Thinking in Psychology.

Harvest Moon Dance

The annual Harvest Moon Dance is Thursday, October 22, 6:30-8:30 in Emerson Suites.  This fun event, sponsored by AGES, brings together older adults from the Ithaca community as well as students for an evening of live music, dancing, and refreshments.  Please join us!

The Department of Recreation and Leisure Studies is hosting the Great Harvest Race on Sunday, November 1, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Two-member teams will compete in six activities for cash prizes. First place wins $80; second place takes home $60; third place gets $40.

Preregistration is required. Team members can register at Campus Center on Thursday, October 22, from noon to 1:00 p.m. The registration fee is $10 for each team ($5 per team member), cash only.
