Discussing everything from prevention of violence against women to the down-and-dirty details of self-defense, Erin demonstrates using live volunteers how to empower ourselves through bodily action, mind, and spirit, and learn to fight back!

Nancy Rader presented a paper in July at an international psychology conference in Athens, Greece, along with Jennifer Parker '09, a Dana Intern who worked with Rader over the summer. Their paper, "Directing Infant Attention through Gestures during Early Word Learning," reported the results of two studies funded by the National Science Foundation.

Applicants should be eligible for an approved, funded sabbatical from their school or division covering either semester.

There has been an ongoing faculty/staff speaker series at Longview since the beginning of the partnership in spring 1999. These are informal talks and can be on a variety of topics. An appreciative audience is guaranteed!

These monthly presentations generally take place on Thursday evenings, 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the Longview auditorium. A speaker is currently needed for October 30.

On Friday, September 26, from noon to 1:30 p.m., Jason Hamilton, associate professor of biology and environmental studies and co-chair of the Natural Lands Committee, will lead a guided tour of some of the natural areas around South Hill. The nature walk will leave from the Textor flagpole promptly at noon.
