The Roy H. Park School of Communications and the Park Center for Independent Media will host Rory Kennedy, award-winning documentary filmmaker, on Monday, January 28.

Kennedy will give a free lecture titled, "The Camera Doesn't Lie: Social Change through Documentary Filmmaking," at 7:30 p.m. in Emerson Suites, Phillips Hall.

This lecture is the first in a series of special events in 2008 that will mark the launch of the Park Center for Independent Media.

Assistant professor of history Karin Breuer has published an essay, "Arnold Ruge: Radicalism in a Reactionary Society," in Modern Europe: 1750 to the Present. (Cora Granata and Cheryl A. Koos, editors. Rowman and Littlefield, 2007: 15-30.)

Assistant professor of history Pearl Ponce published an article, "As Dead as Julius Caesar: The Rejection of the McLane-Ocampo Treaty," in the December 2007 issue of Civil War History, which is the leading academic journal on the history of that infamous conflict.

Reminder: College Smoking Policy

As we prepare for the start of the Spring semester it is important to remind everyone that the State of New York prohibits smoking in the public areas of all buildings within the state. As such, Ithaca College has an established smoking policy (2.8.10) that directly addresses this for the campus community and provides a listing of the designated outdoor smoking areas.

Public Safety Alert Update

The Ithaca Police Department has identified the two armed robbery suspects who were the subject of a Public Safety Alert on Tuesday, January 22. The two, along with two other individuals, were arrested following a second armed robbery that occurred Tuesday night, also on Giles Street.
