The Park Center for Independent Media will host the 12th Izzy Award ceremony on October 28 at 6:00 p.m. EDT.  Named after I. F. “Izzy” Stone, the legendary 20th century journalist, this award recognizes outstanding achievement in independent media—journalism created outside traditional corporate structures. 

The ceremony will feature a speech from each of the Izzy recipients as they accept the award: Matt Taibbi, Lawrence Bartley for “News Inside,” and Carla Minet for Centro de Periodismo Investigativo. PCIM Director Raza Rumi will host the awards. Register on Zoom here.

Mike Ariel ‘09, Assistant Director of Athletics, has accepted a position at Cayuga Medical Center as a Senior Accounting and Financial Analyst.  Mike is looking forward to a new opportunity which will allow him to develop the skills and knowledge he learned while earning his MBA at IC’s School of Business.  Mike’s last day at IC is Friday, October 30.

An unfortunate reality of navigating the COVID-19 pandemic is that a public health official may notify you that you are positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus or that you have been near someone who is positive for the virus. This will require that you either isolate or quarantine. Understanding what these terms mean, and how to be prepared for them, will go a long way in easing anxiety and making it as comfortable of a process as possible.

Dear Ithaca College Community,

On Thursday, October 22, and Friday, October 23, the Ithaca College Board of Trustees met virtually for its regular fall meetings. Given the nature of the year we’ve had, trustees have been meeting frequently, either in committee or as a full board, throughout the spring and summer. We were grateful to come together as a full board for our regular October session, and particularly pleased to welcome our new faculty, staff, and student trustees for their first regular meetings: Baruch Whitehead, associate professor of music education; Casey Kendall, director of applications and infrastructure; and politics major and MLK Scholar Kalena Yearwood ’23.
