In 2016, a small protest encampment at the Standing Rock Reservation in North Dakota, initially established to block construction of the Dakota Access oil pipeline, grew to be the largest Indigenous protest movement in the twenty-first century. Water Protectors knew this battle for native sovereignty had already been fought many times before, and that, even after the encampment was gone, their anticolonial struggle would continue. In Our History Is the Future, Nick Estes traces traditions of Indigenous resistance that led to the #NoDAPL movement. Our History Is the Future is at once a work of history, a manifesto, and an intergenerational story of resistance.

Dear Campus Community:

The Roman Catholic Diocese of Rochester informed Ithaca College this weekend that it recently received notice of an allegation of sexual abuse of a minor against the Reverend Carsten Martensen, dating from the 1970s. Father Carsten has served in the campus ministries at both Ithaca College and Cornell University since his appointment by the Diocese in 2007. The Diocese stated that Father Carsten has stepped down from all current assignments and public ministry pending completion of an investigation by the USA Northeast Province of the Jesuits and future recommendations by its independent review board.

Moth Migration Project

Ithaca College printmaking students are participating in an international Moth Migration installation, founded by Brooklyn artist Hilary Lorenz in 2016. This is a crowd-sourced collection of drawn, hand-printed, cut paper moths exhibited in multi-sensory installations. So far, 14,563 moths, 702 individuals, 56 organizations, and 24 countries have participated.

Campus CSA Sign Up - Learn More!

Plowbreak Farm, owned and operated by Kara Cusolito '08 and Aaron Munzer '08, will again be offering locally grown vegetable CSA shares to the Ithaca College community, with a convenient pick-up site at the Peggy R. Williams Center on Wednesdays, and a downtown pickup on Thursdays at the Westy, a local beer garden. The farm is located in Hector, about twenty miles from the college, and grows six acres of produce in fields and greenhouses that overlook Seneca Lake.

 IC Mock Trial has made it to The Opening Round Championship Tournament hosted by The American Mock Trial Association (AMTA). IC Mock Trial's B team will be competing in Richmond, Virginia on March 15th-17th, 2019 for a chance to go to Nationals! IC Mock Trial gives a huge thank you to the Politics Department, especially Peyi Soyinka-Airewele, Kenesha Chatman, and Tom Shevory for making this possible for the team.

Associate Professor Wendy Dann directs Sarah DeLappe's play, The Wolves, which was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize in Drama in 2017. This is Dann's third time directing at the Tony-award winning Dallas Theater Center. She is joined by Emma Rothstein (Theatre Studies '19) as assistant director.

On Monday, March 4th from 9 am - 5 pm Hillel will be hosting its annual Inch-A-Thon.
