(214 words) New Version of Pulse Secure (formerly Junos Pulse) Supports Mac OS SierraContributed by Karen Compton on 12/06/16 The newest version of the Mac operating system, Mac OS Sierra, has had known compatibility issues with Pulse Secure (formerly Junos Pulse), used for remote VPN access to some Ithaca College systems. There is now a compatible version of Pulse Secure available for Mac OS Sierra users. The new version works with previous Mac and Windows operating systems as well, and functions virtually the same. The new version is available in the right sidebar of the Remote Access support page. Hogben on 12/06/16 Dr. Ellie Fitts Fulmer (Ithaca College, Education Department) and Dr. Alesha Gayle (University of Pennsylvania, Graduate School of Education) presented a paper at the Literacy Research Association’s annual meeting in Nashville, Tennessee. Their paper, titled “LOL? Racial Literacy Through Humor in Teacher Education” explores using racial comedy media in teacher education, using literacy as a lens for understanding more about this practice. Specifically, Fulmer and Gayle focused on students’ hesitation to laugh as an avenue for zeroing in on, and expanding, their racial literacy. Read more . . . When temperatures drop below freezing, walking from parking lots and building to building can be a dangerous game. Although Maintenance and Facilities do an excellent job salting and shoveling campus walkways, black ice and icy patches can strike before getting attended to. Slips and falls are the number one cause of accidents at Ithaca College.
