Interested in Performing or MCing for the One World Concert during Family Weekend

IC International Club is looking for performers and MCs for the One World Concert on Friday, November 4th at Emerson Suites as part of Family Weekend.

This annual concert showcases and celebrates the different cultures represented at Ithaca College and Cornell through various musical and dancing acts.

Applications are open to all students, regardless of whether you're an international or domestic student.

The deadline is Tuesday, October 18th.

The Office of International Programs and the IC International Club are very excited about the upcoming 2016 International Education Week (IEW) from October 31–November 4! This week-long international festival features a whole set of exciting events and we look forward to seeing you there!


We are currently accepting submissions for our annual International Photo Exhibition Contest. Bring us your best photos (they must be your own photos/photos you took yourself). This contest is open to both international and domestic students. Students can submit photos they took at home, in the U.S. or from any other study abroad experiences (if you did any).

Ithaca College is pleased to offer faculty, students, and staff a new cloud-based platform for video and audio conferencing, mobile collaboration, and simple online meetings called Zoom.  All Ithaca College faculty, staff and students now have the ability to easily start and host collaborative sessions and classes for 2 to 500 participants.  Zoom is a next generation service that is similar to “WebEx” and other services, and is becoming widely adopted by numerous colleges and universities.

On Monday 10/17 at 6PM, Tom Gitterman (’90) will offer an “Inside Look at the Business of Art” in a public lecture. After graduating from Ithaca College with a major in art history and a minor in art, Gitterman went to work in the commercial gallery world of New York City. Eventually, he opened his own gallery in midtown Manhattan. Gitterman Gallery specializes in selling mid-twentieth century art photography. He will speak about the business of art and the place of the commercial art gallery within the art world.

October 18 - Free Flu Shots

Tuesday, October 18th from 8:00am through 12:00pm in Emerson Suites, Ithaca College will be holding our annual Point of Dispensing (POD) for all faculty, staff, and students to receive a free flu vaccination. The POD is an important part of the Ithaca College emergency preparedness plan, and tests our ability to deliver potentially lifesaving medication quickly and efficiently during an emergency or disaster incident that may pose a threat to public health.

On Monday, October 17, the U-Lot will be serving as reserved parking for an evening event in the Campus Center.  Therefore, it will be closed to regular use beginning at 3 p.m.  Vehicles in the lot at that time do not need to relocate.  However, no new entry will be permitted past 3 p.m. other than for event guests.  The lot will re-open for regular use on Tuesday morning.

Professor of Politics, Asma Barlas, gave the visiting Marsico Scholar's lecture at the invitation of the department of Religious Studies, University of Denver (her alma mater), on October 13th. The title of her talk was "Muslim Women: Between religious and secular extremism."

This film screening will be followed by an international skype interview with the Director, Diego Quemada-Diez.

Professor Doug Turnbull (Computer Science) was recently awarded an NSF Information & Intelligent Systems grant for $100,000. The grant focuses on using user preference information that is collected from his MegsRadio.fm personalized radio app to improve media recommendation algorithms.   

 

This grant will primarily be used to support undergraduate research at Ithaca College over the next three years.  Details can be found at:

This is a collaborative grant with Professor Thorsten Joachims who was awarded $400,000 to support graduate research at Cornell University.
