As we prepare for our 120th Commencement on Sunday, May 17, 2015, we would like to provide you with some information regarding the academic procession.  The procession will form at 8:30 a.m. outside in the academic quad.  Please look for the signs indicating where each school should start lining up.  The academic procession will begin promptly at 8:50 a.m. and the Commencement ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m.  All guests will be encouraged to be seated by 8:45 a.m.

Dr. Heinz and Dr. Judith Koch are co-authors of a paper with Professor Masaaki Mishima, Kyushu University, in the Bulletin of the Chemical Society of Japan.  Justin Biffinger '97 & Patrick Han '98 each did one summer of research in Mishima's laboratory.

 The Society of Professional Journalists has named The Ithacan the Best All-Around Nondaily Student Newspaper in the Northeast Region for 2014. The paper received the first place Mark of Excellence Award at the SPJ Region 1 conference April 18 in Hempstead, N.Y.

The paper now goes on to compete against the winners in the other 11 SPJ regions for the national Mark of Excellence Award. The winner will be announced at the SPJ national convention Sept. 18–20 in Orlando, Florida. The SPJ is the largest professional organization of reporters and editors in the country.

In addition, the Ithacan website was named a Finalist in the Best Affiliated Website category.

SPJ last named The Ithacan the Best All-Around Nondaily Student Newspaper in the country in 2012.

Farewell to Dr. Douglas Cross

After serving as a faculty member for 30 years, Dr. Douglas Cross, Associate Professor in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology, will be retiring on May 31, 2015. Please join his department in wishing him well. At his request, no party is being held in his honor.
