In preparation for ITS’s upgrade of the email servers at the end of July, users need to check their email program configuration settings to help ensure that their program can communicate correctly with the new servers.

The legacy email server name "ic4.ithaca.edu" that is commonly found in email program settings needs to be changed to "icmail.ithaca.edu". Netscape users (both Mac and PC) may also need to change some related settings.

People who use Webmail exclusively to send and receive email do not need to make any changes. Users of Mac OS X Mail, Netscape 4.x (Windows or Mac), or Thunderbird should follow the steps in the instruction guide for checking and/or changing program settings (ideally before the server upgrade on July 29) to prevent any loss of email service:
