I just cant comprehend the ignorance, and lack of education many white people have in this area. Oh but wait a minute, the state and local govt, would like to keep it that way. They have refused for two hundred years to educate their children about what actually happened here. It would be embarassing to say that not only did the Haudenosaunee welcome them to this land, but also showed them how to grow corn, beans, and squash. How to hunt and fish. How to manage the forest. Taught them not to piss in the water you are going to drink. And most importanly helped them set up a govt. so they could become a strong nation. If this is such a great nation, with its great white father who is supposed to be the Indians friend; who preaches about "no child will be left behind". Then I say lets start in the elementary schools and tell the thruth! Then we will all be on the same page. But maybe he is still trying to figure out what Sovereign means.
