CSCRE's fall 2007 discussion series, The Prison Machine: Race, Torture, & the State, explores the incarceration of people of color with a focus on intersections of race, torture, and the state. The series starts off with Joy A. James, a professor of Africana studies at Williams College who holds a Ph.D. in political philosophy from Fordham University and a post doctorate degree in religious ethics from the Union Theological Seminary at Columbia University.

Sean Eversley-Bradwell, assistant professor of African diaspora studies, is the faculty presenter. This event is free and open to all and will take place in the Clark Lounge, Campus Center at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2007. Light refreshments will be served.
