As announced in recent articles, ITS and Verizon are replacing the campus telephone and voice mail systems this weekend beginning at 8:00 pm on Friday, January 4th and continuing through Sunday, January 6th.

It is expected that phone and voicemail service will be interrupted for approximately 2 to 3 hours during the actual cutover. The new voice mail system and single-line phones will work as soon as the cutover is completed but multi-line phones will take longer. Telephone technicians will be working over the weekend to connect and test all multi-line display phones. All phones are expected to be functional by the start of business on Monday, January 7th.

Remember:

  • Personalize your new voice mail box before cutover by following these instructions.
  • After cutover, users can access voicemail left on the "old" system until the end of January by dialing 4-5100, entering the voicemail box number, hitting the * key, and entering the password.
  • Drop-in hours are available in the Technology Learning Center in Friends 101 from 10-11 am and 1-2 pm Thursday, January 3rd and from 9-10 am and 2-3 pm on Friday, January 4th. Representatives will be available to help you personalize your voice mail box and answer any questions you may have about the new multi-line phone equipment.
  • If you currently have a multi-line phone and do not receive new equipment by noon on Friday, January 4th, please contact the Helpdesk.
  • If you have a critical business need to have your multi-line phone(s) operational over the weekend of January 4th-6th, please contact the Helpdesk as soon as possible so that we can prioritize your area.
  • If you experience any telephone or voice mail problems on Monday morning please contact the Helpdesk and select option 2 from the menu.
