On Thursday, February 5, in the Emerson Suites of Campus Center, Ithaca College will host a daylong "Teach-In" on the political, social, environmental, and economic impacts of climate change.

Join us to learn from faculty experts and community and government leaders about the issues of global climate change. Learn about efforts underway to respond to climate change on campus, in the local community, and on a national and international basis.

Faculty are asked to consider encouraging student attendance at and participation in "Teach-In" sessions, through class attendance or by offering extra credit to student participants.

* Selwin Hart will be a featured presenter during the last two regular sessions of the day. Hart is the secretary of the Permanent Mission of Barbados to the United Nations and the coordinator of the Alliance of Small Island States (AOSIS) in the Ad Hoc Working Group on Long-Term Cooperative Action (AWGLTCA) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.

This Climate Change Teach-In event is being held in conjunction with the National Teach-In on Global Warming being held during the beginning of the first 100 days of the Obama administration. Ithaca College is one of over 500 institutions participating in this national event. The National Teach-In on Global Warming intends to engage over a million Americans in solutions-driven dialogue, stating that "as educators, students, and citizens, we owe our nation a focused conversation about the critical decisions that will determine if our descendants will inherit a prosperous or an impoverished planet."

All "Teach-In" events are free and open to the public.
