Want to get yourself up and running in Office 2008 quickly and easily? Sign up for the free workshop from ITS called What's New with Office 2008 (Macintosh). ITS offers workshops every week on a variety of topics in the Technology Learning Center (101 Friends Hall) at no charge to all faculty, staff, and students. It's easy to sign up! Just check the online schedule for the Technology Learning Center, and register instantly.

Why is this new version such a big deal? Office 2008 is the upgrade for Office 2004, the Macintosh version of the Microsoft Office productivity software collection. Microsoft has incorporated a new look for Office 2008 as well as some new features, such as the Elements Gallery, which makes it easier to apply commonly-used design tools to your projects. Other new features include SmartArt Graphics and a nifty Toolbox.

In the What's New with Microsoft Office 2008 (Macintosh) workshop, you will get up to speed on:

  • upgrading your computer from Office 2004 to 2008
  • key new features in Word 2008, PowerPoint 2008, and Excel 2008
  • hands-on practice with the Formula Builder, Elements Gallery, and SmartArt Graphics tools
  • supported and unsupported macro formats
  • cross-platform compatibility and conversion tools

What's New with Microsoft Office 2008 (Macintosh) workshops will be offered on the upcoming dates below. Please join us!

  • Monday, February 23, 10:00am to 11:00am
  • Thursday, February 26, 11:00am to noon
  • Tuesday, March 3, 1:00pm to 2:00pm

Feedback on ITS training programs is strongly encouraged. If you have a special request or some new ideas, please contact Sharon Beltaine by calling 4-1045 or by sending e-mail to sbeltaine@ithaca.edu.
