If you are looking for a block II activity course for 0.5 credits, please consider Basic Orienteering (PALS00125). This is an introductory course into land navigation and orienteering techniques. Students will learn the basic skills of being able to read and understand map symbols, determine location on a map, point plotting, azimuths’, and the use of a compass on orienteering courses. Students will also learn more advanced techniques to include resection, intersection, dead reckoning, pace count, and day/night navigation. A portion of the course will also cover basic first aid and survival techniques in the case of a worst possible scenario. There is a $50 fee for this course to cover the cost of equipment maintenance. |
