French major Lauren Way ('11), and French minors Rachel Berger (x'10) and Maddie Smith-Spanier ('11) have been selected by the French government's Teaching Assistant Program to teach English and American culture in France next year.

Each year, the French Ministry of Education selects a number of American university students to teach in France's middle and high schools in order to give French students more direct access to the English language and American culture.  Through a highly competitive application process, program candidates are asked to demonstrate overall academic achievement, a high level of proficiency in the French language, a rich understanding of French culture, and great potential to serve as engaging cultural ambassadors.  Lauren, Rachel, and Maddie have been assigned to teach in the Academies of Bordeaux, Nancy/Metz, and Versailles, respectively.

Please join the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures in congratulating our students and in wishing them a fruitful year in France.

Félicitations, Lauren, Rachel et Maddie, nous sommes fiers de vous, et nous vous souhaitons un agréable séjour en France !
