School of Music's faculty showcase recital series After Dinner Mint to present "Gypsy in Me" MondayContributed by Jenny Stockdale on 09/21/13 After Dinner Mint | "Gypsy in Me" Gypsies—nomadic, free-spirited people tied to the shape-shifting nature of seasonal work, itinerant trade, and fortune telling—have been the intrigue and inspiration of composers for centuries. Embracing the gypsy culture and its mysterious, threadbare music, this season’s first After Dinner Mint concert will feature a tribe of Ithaca College School of Music faculty, performing their interpretations of the gypsy soundscape. Come find the gypsy in you! The Program: Peregi Verbunk, Op. 40 El Paño Moruno and Asturiana from 7 Canciones Populares Piece en Forme de Habanera for English horn and Piano Sonata No. 3 for Violin and Piano in the Romanian Style, op. 25 Gypsy in Me from Anything Goes "Django" by John Lewis Zemer Atik (circa 1955) Quintet from Carmen |
