CMST assistant professor Christopher House will offer "CLTC 10000: Introduction to Communication and Culture" as an online course during the Winter Session (Jan 05- Jan 16). This course fulfills liberal arts general education and ICC Diversity requirements. To enroll, search course number CLTC 10000 for Winter 2015 term on Homerconnect. Course Description: Difference isn’t the problem,discourse is! As such, this course explores and interrogates the ways that communication (e.g.,language, media, discourse) establishes and enacts identity and power dynamics. In thinking about communication as global citizens, our online discussions of how, for example, movies like Crash and Snowpiercer will help us to understand how social identities are constructed, institutionalized, changed, contested and/or appropriated by various social groups. 3 credits. |
