Terri Stewart, director or pubic safety · Sexual Assault · Good place with leaders to be talking about this · IC SHARE · Committee that the college appoints need to do training · Used orientation period to put these things in place around sexual harassment · NYS passed the “enough is enough” law · Clarity Act was amended ¨ Office of pubic safety will publish the amendment ¨ How do we get students and faculty to see this? · Campus Save Act ¨ What are we doing against domestic violence? ¨ Need to understand the definition of these issues ¨ Challenged as an institution to train, so students can recognize this violence as it happens ¨ So students can recognize stalking ¨ Any behavior that is unwanted by you that makes you feel uncomfortable is likely illegal ¨ They are there to help with that · Borrowed the SHARE acronym from Cornell who got it from Yale. · Ithaca College SHARE Website · Sexual Harassment and Assault Response and Education (SHARE) · What can we do better to the site? ¨ Flow Charts. ¨ FAQs. · You can go to: ¨ Counselors in the Health Center ¨ Clergy · You will get immediate assistance, to make sure you are safe and the rest of the campus is safe. · They will make sure your physical and mental well being is safe. · Tiffany Zeeman (you can talk to her about what we can do as a campus with regard to campaigns/marketing that have to do with sexual assault. · Want to make a splash on campus about sexual assault. · Public Safety Relationships with Student Body ¨ Four Point Diversity plan v Been ongoing work, since September 2013 v Want to create diversity engagement and inclusion goals v Two Goals: 1. Implement a diversity plan for better relations with students and public safety. 2. Develop a communication plan. v Alana Student Engagement. v Staff training and development. v Policy development. v Workshop the meetings. v 3 prong: ü Education ü Engagement ü Communication ¨ Conversations with public safety. ¨ Constitutional rights don’t go away. ¨ Police Enforcement of Accountability for Civilian Engagements (PEACE BILL) v Resolution that has been passed. v What does it mean to pass a resolution? v SGA will pick this up, say what it means to pass a resolution, go through it to figure out what it means for us in September 2015. v New Bill Process: ü Submit your intent for a bill on a Tuesday. ü Time to do research, to get a more fleshed out bill. ü Run by people. ü Bring it in the following Monday to present at a SGA meeting. ü The bill will be looked at to see if there is enough research. ü If it gets passed, it will with an action plan tied to it v What was the thought process behind this bill? v Whatever we do has a budgetary impact. v Joseph Fenning v Johnahn Couce v Angela Pradhen v Kyle James v They are going to rework the bill. v People doing research need to be in contact with Terri. · Bill process requires a next step, once passed in SGA, then it will be brought to campus committee on college life and campus safety. · Message: There was and is a plan that has been put in place that has been ongoing for 18 months, recognize the need for this plan. · As a whole the student body has questions about rights and responsibilities. · Terri is passionate about public safety.
V. New Business A. Voting in appropriations committee members · Lexa Panell v Junior, accounting and management major, was in appropriations last year, loved being in the committee, seeing all of the organizations on campus and helping them. · James Chen v Sophomore accounting major, was on last year, joined towards the later half would like to do it again. · Oliver Shag v Senior, International business and marketing major, minor in Spanish, has not been it, wants to give back to the school. · Giovanna Finamo v Freshmen, in business administration, would like more business experience on campus would like to learn more about what is happening around the school. · Siandre Carolina v Business administration concentration in finance, would help with business. · Jonathan Couce v Sophomore politics and communication studies major, great way to give back to the IC community. · Tyler Alden v Freshmen business administration major, good way to get involved. · Joseph Fenning v Sophomore accounting major, was on last year, would love to get back into it, giving ideas. Discussion: · Anyone who is willing to commit, nice to have people with business backgrounds. · Attendance requirements, need people who are dedicated · Are ready to committee.
B. Senate Seats Platform · Charles Kane v From Binghamton New York. v Interested in politics and government. v Always been around it, enjoy it. v Ithaca is different than his area. v He wants to get rid of all acronyms. v Excited to be here. v Running for HSHP Senator. v Freshman. v Studying Health Sciences with a focus in dentistry. v Always been interested in Government. v Previous experience: 8th grade was student body president. v What would you change? Racial bias, issue with campus security and students, every week, a given police officer has to meet 5 students, to bring down the title aspect between police and student relations bring it to a more human level. v How do you plan on representing your school? Trying to represent the amount of work he can put into it. · Ezek Allen v Freshman. v Business Administration Major. v Platforms: Voice, making everyone’s voices heard. v Difference from high school to college, SGA is listened to more in college. v She wants her voice heard. v Great place to learn what is going on and listen and be a part of something. v Running for At Large. v A bill that you would think about working on? Working off of what she learned from the ALS meeting. v Something for freshman to talk to elders to help them adjust to the new surroundings. v Would like an informational step by step. · Eli Cirotta v Junior IMC Major. v Minors in politics and economics. v Running for club sports senator. v Member of the men’s club rugby team. v Divide between varsity and club sports level. v Have the opportunity to represent a large amount of diverse people around campus. v From Vermont. v Currently a tour guide, student justice. v Served as an RA. v Was an orientation leader. · Matilda Thornton Clark v Senior sociology major. v Running for senior senator (class of 2016) v Took a semester off to work at Rutgers University. v Has experience in organizing events. v Community feel at IC. v Never went to an SGA event. v Transparency of the organization. v Visibility survey. v Wants to make a change on campus, change how students perceive us. v From Princeton New Jersey. · Discussion: v Experience Diversity. v They want to learn and get involved. v Contrast between the four. v Having different personalities makes it more positive. · Voting C. Officer Reports · Dominick v Working on the Student Bill of Rights. v Going out on Intercom soon. v Want as many people as possible to play a part. v Thank You for constitution day. v Constitution day went really well. v Started a sustainability working group. Will hopefully pass bills through SGA. v Running a digital office hour Thursday September 24 2015. v Introduction of Executive Assistants and Chief of Staff. v Encouragement to look at constitution. v Constitution is on Ithaca.edu/osema/sga. v Can change the room for SGA meetings. · Kyle v Still more seats to fill in the senate. v Going to help develop an online tracking system. v Can find the bill, if it has been voted, whose desk is it sitting on. v Working on marketing SHARE. v State of student address, it is going to be a video, share with all of your friends. Will have the issues and solutions. · Yena v Executive Ball is next Friday. v Fun event, music, dancing, food, free. v 8-11 Emerson Suites. v Awards. v Facebook event. v Semi- formal attire. v Elector- program that encourages females on campus to run for leadership positions on campus. v SHARE: if everyone can look at the website. v Trying to figure out how other campus’s and other SGAs deal with sexual assault. v Going to other schools to get more information on how we can look at how other schools are handling things. v Green dot institution, active bystander training. · Kyle James v Assistants. v Representation Bill. v Intellectual Property law. v Indigenous studies minor, try to promote it. v Anything you want to meet with him on, he doesn’t have office hours. v Checks his email every 5-10 minutes when not in class. · Evan v Official final hearing time is 10pm. v Brand new appropriations committee. v Meeting tomorrow. · Senate Chair v Attendance is very important. v Email if you are not able to come at least 24 hours in advance. v Meetings every Monday at 7:30pm. v 3 absences become a problem. v 2 unexcused lates = 1 absent v Don’t fall asleep during meetings. v Raise your hand before you speak. v If interested in Senate Committee let her know. v Open senate Seats. · Ciara Lucas v Student Trustees. v College for a day. · Lema v Events for Alumni Weekend.
